We recently partnered with Three Birds Renovations to supply and install a custom pitched skylight in a previously dark and narrow hallway. Like many bungalow-style homes, this space lacked natural light and felt closed-in and uninviting. 

Working closely with the design team, we created a bespoke skylight solution that not only suits the pitched roofline but also maximises daylight throughout the day. The result is a stunning architectural feature that completely transforms the feel of the hallway—turning it from a gloomy thoroughfare into one of the home’s standout spaces.

The natural light now floods in from above, enhancing the sense of space, warmth, and connection to the outdoors. It’s a beautiful example of how a tailored skylight solution can dramatically improve both the functionality and aesthetic of a home.

We also supplied and installed four VELUX skylights throughout the home to bring in natural light and fresh air. Each one was installed using our custom-designed flashings, ensuring a seamless, leak-free finish that looks just as good as it performs. While it’s tough to choose a favourite, the skylight above the shower stands out; it’s ready to take the idea of a “rain shower” to a whole new level this winter. Both bathrooms are now filled with natural light, making them the ideal spaces to start the day.

As many bungalow-style homes often suffer from dark entranceways and hallways, this project tackled both—flooding previously dim areas with daylight and creating bright, inviting spaces throughout.

As Seen On: Interiors Addict

We had the pleasure of transforming the living room of renowned interiors blog Interiors Addict with a stunning skylight installation that completely changed the way their space feels and functions.

What was once a dimly lit room requiring 18 globe lights to stay bright during the day is now flooded with natural light, thanks to two VELUX skylights expertly installed by our team at Shire Skylights. One skylight is solar-powered and automatic, the other manual – both with integrated blinds and flyscreens to control glare and airflow. The result? A bright, open, and beautifully ventilated space with added wow factor.

Jen, founder of Interiors Addict, shared how the change not only brought in more light but also gave the room a new sense of height, openness, and connection to the outdoors. Her favourite surprise? The smart VELUX Active system that opens and closes the skylights and blinds based on temperature, humidity, and CO₂ levels – all controlled from an app!

The full install, including cutting into the ceiling, framing, and sheeting, was completed in just over four hours – a testament to the speed and professionalism of our team.
